ONE MORE DAY FOR VOLLEYBALL - 1DAYMORE4VOLLEYBALL

Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation (#1DayMore4Volleyball) held a holiday event under the name "One More Day for Volleyball".

The festival was organized according to the recommendation and motto of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV). On February 29, which happened every 4 years since 2016, Azerbaijani volleyball fans got together and celebrated.
 
The event began with the visit of the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation (AVF) officials, volleyball players and coaches to the grave of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The volleyball family honored the memory of the great leader. After that, they paid tribute to the memory of Zarifa Aliyeva, the outstanding ophthalmologist-scientist, academician, lifelong companion of the National Leader, and laid flowers on the grave. The festival was continued at Azerrail Volleyball Center.
After the volleyball players were invited to the field, the National Anthem was played and the festival was declared open.

Azerbaijan Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Ismayil Ismayilov, AVF Vice President Faig Garayev, player of our national team Shafagat Alishanova spoke at the event dedicated to Volleyball Day.

Greeting the participants of the festival, the deputy minister conveyed the congratulations of Minister Azad Rahimov to the participants on the occasion of the festival. He said that volleyball is one of the most popular sports in our country: "We have many girls and boys who play this sport. Thanks to this, volleyball in our country is developing on a rising line. There is a special love for this sport not only in the capital, but also outside of Baku. I wish that our country will be represented by the national team of this type in the next Olympics. I wish all of you success on this path."

The next speaker, Faig Garayev, spoke about the importance of this day. He also thanked everyone who had a stake in the development of Azerbaijani volleyball: "Today is our holiday. Congratulations to everyone involved in volleyball. May the souls of our veteran volleyball players who changed their lives rejoice. Their role in reaching this level of our volleyball is undeniable. Today, each of us is working for the further development of Azerbaijani volleyball. I wish success and health to our volleyball players, including every athlete."

Shafagat Alishanova, a member of the Azerbaijan national team, also emphasized that the holiday occupies a special place in the life of every volleyball player. On behalf of the volleyball family, he especially thanked the President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev. He said that volleyball players always feel the support of the head of the country: "Mr. President takes special care of sports and volleyball. He always supports us. On behalf of the volleyball players, I thank Mr. President. He watched our games from the arena in all the competitions held in our country, and was by our side in our victories and defeats. We also express our gratitude to Javid Gurbanov, president of the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation. Special attention to this sport plays a big role in our development. I congratulate and thank teacher Faig who made us love volleyball. He made us love this sport. I congratulate everyone - management, volleyball players, coaches, volleyball fans - on this wonderful holiday. May victory always be with us."

After the speeches, singer Vasif Muharramli congratulated volleyball players and fans of this sport and gave them happy moments with a music program.

In the end, there was a selection of talented volleyball players at the initiative of Azerrail Volleyball Club. 75 children in the age range of 8-12 years were brought from orphanages No. 1, 2 and 3 located in Baku and were examined by trainers. The best ones were selected and taken under special supervision.
